What is the Freezone?

Freezone is an online playground where Netspace broadband customers can view websites and download, play and listen to selected online content without affecting their monthly quota.

Even if you use up your monthly quota and get shaped, sites anywhere in the Freezone can still be accessed at full speed. All new broadband & Naked DSL accounts come with access to the Freezone.

It’s all made available to Netspace customers thanks to our good friends at iiNet.

What’s not in the Freezone?

When browsing the Freezone you should be careful about clicking links or ads that could take you into non-Freezone territory. Anything downloaded outside of the Freezone will count towards your quota.

Freezone content could also become metered if you alter the DNS settings for your computer. Just to be safe, we recommend using the automatic settings assigned by our servers.

While the actual data usage within the Freezone isn’t counted, some sites may require you to pay for content you download. For example, downloading music from iTunes Australia won’t count towards your quota, but you may still have to pay for the actual product.

A few notes about iTunes content

Freezone members get VIP access to the Apple iTunes store.

Only purchases made via the Australian iTunes store are unmetered. Any content previewed or purchased from an overseas iTunes store will count towards your monthly broadband quota.

Podcasts and movie trailers are excluded from your free quota. This is because they’re delivered directly from the author or studio instead of the iTunes store, and therefore can’t be unmetered via freezone.

Lastly, uploads to iTunes Australia are not included in the Freezone for Naked DSL, which means they will be counted towards your quota.
