How does the Netspace Long Distance service work?
Just because you rent your phone line from one of the big name phone companies doesn't mean you have to use them for all the calls you make from that phone line.
Netspace provide long distance calls at rates substantially less than the big guys.
You can nominate Netspace to connect all you long distance calls. This is referred to as Pre-select.
By pre-selecting Netspace as your long distance provider all your long distance calls will be connected and billed by Netspace at our everyday low rates. Local calls and line rental will continue to be billed by your phone line provider.
It's that simple!
Pre-selecting Netspace as your long distance call provider doesn’t prevent you from making long distance calls with other providers. If for some reason you prefer to use a different provider for specific calls you can enter their over-ride code before dialing the number you wish to call.
Do I need to be a Netspace Internet customer?
Yes. Netspace Long Distance is presently only available to Netspace Home and SOHO ADSL Broadband account holders. To join or switch to Netspace see Netspace Broadband.
Netspace Long Distance will be available to Netspace Corporate and Dial-up account holders in the near future.

Who will bill me for line rental and local calls?
Your current telephone provider will continue to bill you for line rental and local calls.
How do Netspace call caps work?
Call caps are another way we provide you with great savings on long distance calls.
Your call will be charged at our every day low per minute rate (15¢/min for national and calls to top 40 countries, 33¢/min for calls to mobiles) until the $1.98 call cap is reached, after which you will enjoy "free minutes" up until the length of time specified in the call cap is reached (2 hours for national, 30 minutes for top 40 countries, 10 minutes for calls to mobiles), after which you will be charged at the applicable per minute rate for the remainder of the call.
All calls are charged in one second increments after the first minute and attract a 35¢ flag fall.
For example, a call between Melbourne and Perth:
— A two minute call will cost 65¢. (2 min x 15¢/min + 35¢ flag fall).
— A call lasting anywhere between 14 minutes and two hours will cost $2.33 ($1.98 call cap + 35¢ flag fall).
— A call for longer than 2 hours will cost $1.98 call cap, plus 15¢ for each minute beyond the first 2 hours, plus 35¢ flag fall.
When will I be charged?
You will be charged each month, on the date that you switched to Netspace Long Distance. This is your Netspace Long Distance anniversary date. Eg. If you switch to Netspace Long Distance on the 10th of the month then you will be billed on the 10th of each month.
If you switch a second line to use Netspace Long Distance it will use the anniversary date of the first line. So you will be billed by Netspace for the long distance you make from both phone lines on the same date.
