All of my life I have lived as though I was in search of something. Every time I became aware that I was becoming content, I would create some major event in my life and force myself to move on. I had always
thought that life was just unfair to me, and that I would never be able to settle down. It wasn't until I read Running From Safety that I started to see how I had been me creating these events all along!
I was trying to find my truth. I was causing catastrophes in order to shake myself awake. Finally, as my true reason for living started to dawn on me, in that first flicker of light, I understood.
I got it. And then I read Out of My Mind.
I have read the book twice now. Each time I found a new level of intricate delight, playful lesson and dazzling insight. I struggled at first to get the messages that lay staring at me on the pages. I lifted
every paragraph, peered beneath each sentence (You even told me to Richard.... 'the tiniest detail is a clue'!)
I underlined phrases, circled words. Then, as I was about to give up... there it lay: 'Sometimes the only way to win is to surrender'.
If you have not done so already, you might wish to introduce yourself to Richard. You can find him waiting to meet you just where the new sun peeps over the sea in Jonathan Livingston Seagull. When you have
finished with level flight, and you've met Donald Shimoda in Illusions, then enjoyed being the observer in The Bridge Across Forever, piloted the sea plane in One and finally met Richard the boy in Running from Safety
.... when you've lived with Richard Bach through all of that ... you will feel compelled to travel with him, on a flight without wings, on a journey into the world of the soul. And if you are careful, and you are
willing to surrender, you will meet the designers of your dreams hidden deep in the passages of Out Of My Mind!
