MIRAGE 730 DOUBLE - 'sporty' version.

Last year I bought a double sea kayak from Mirage in New South Wales (Australia).

They make two models of double sea kayak.  I bought the 7.3 metre long 'sporty' version.  I am not totally sure about the dimensions of the 'less sporty' version but I am guessing that it is shorter and wider than the model that I bought.  To find out for sure contact Paul from Mirage.  Their email address is info@mirageseakayaks.com.au

The mirage double is a fast and comfortable, double sea kayak.  I have taken it on a couple of extended trips - including a trip to Flinders Island.  We were able to fit in enough gear for an extended trip.  Jeff Jennings and I managed to average over 10 km/h as we travelled across Banks Strait into light head winds.

Since the previous comment - I have done a lot more trips in my mirage double and I have grown to really enjoy trips in it.  For extended trips we have to pack gear well (especially with the small'ish front hatch opening) but I have worked out my system for packing (using a lot more small & medium dry bags instead of large) and it doesn't cause any problems now.

I love the fact that the boat can go really fast with '2 engines' and when I am in it I feel like there is no headwind too strong to take on.  Jodi doesn't always feel the same way when she paddling behind me - hating me with every stroke - longing for tailwinds, sailing or calm conditions.
